| The Livesay Historical Society (LHS) is incorporated as a nonprofit society under the laws of Tennessee. We are governed by Bylaws approved by the membership. We have a Corporation Board and a Governing Board elected by the members. We meet annually to conduct business, present genealogy and local history research, conduct educational seminars and other programs and activities as the Board and membership approve. Membership is by application of interested persons who are in agreement with the purpose of the organization and bylaws. Annual dues are listed below. . The Livesay Historical Society was founded in 1957 in Cloverdale, VA, near Roanoke, Virginia when thirty descendants came together to form a society dedicated to learning more of their Livesay heritage. The Society has met annually each successive year in places associated with Livesay family history. Members keep in touch by means of the LIVESAY BULLETIN which has been published quarterly to date..July 2006 Material may also be published on the Livesay Website. All persons with the name of Livesay in any of the many spellings, those who are of Livesay descent and any others who adhere to the purpose of the Society are welcome to become members. The purpose of the Society is to encourage and direct the researching, compiling, and recording in permanent form the histories of the Livesay family, including all its branches and all spellings and related families. To achieve the mandate to preserve the records as stated in our by-laws "to assemble, store and maintain their state and service in perpetuity", the Society has selected a permanent depository for all our records. The Allen County Library of Fort Wayne, IN, best fills our needs. The submitted material of the Livesay Society is bound, catalogued and available to all interested parties. The genealogical section of the Allen County Library is second only to the LDS Genealogical Library in Salt Lake City.
